Focus while transcribing

A medical transcriptionist (MT) must always be in focus whenever at work. In order to do this, the workroom should be quiet so that the MT can concentrate on what to hear and type. In this manner, an MT must not miss or omit words; therefore, accuracy in typing medical terms is achieved.

The accuracy of the medical record is of highest importance in guaranteeing quality care to the patient. It is a fundamental relation between patient and the healthcare provider.

Both minor errors and major errors can decrease the reliability and the apparent qualifications of the healthcare provider. Even minor errors such as typos, grammatical inconsistencies and others are being measured to determine the performance of a medical transcriptionist. Most often, an MT is expected to transcribe at least 99% correct or even better 100%.
